Join this session to learn how to use Open-Middle problems from Robert Kaplinsky. Participants will engage with multiple problems, learn how to facilitate Open-Middle problems for optimal learning, and receive insider tips and tricks for ultimate engagement!
The Eight Habits of Highly Effective Math Students:
All students, teachers, leaders, and community members belong in math. When we recognize math teaching and learning as noticing and naming our strengths, learning how to cultivate strong math habits, and building a community of math thinkers and doers, we build an equitable math community where everyone is represented and belongs. By exploring, nurturing, and growing our math habits, we uncover the mathematical brilliance we all possess. Participants will learn about the Eight Habits of Highly Effective Math Students and walk away with a plan to identify, nurture, and grow their own and their students’ habits.

mathematics. In this session, you will learn about a collaborative professional learning structure designed
to build students’ mathematical identities and agency as teacher teams strengthen their relationships
with mathematics and expand their instructional expertise. Based on the book Power Up Your Math
Community: A 10-Month Practice-Based Professional Learning Guide, Holly and Sue will show you how
to upgrade your school’s mathematics program while growing collective efficacy among educators.
